1200 PEACHTREE STREET, ATLANTA, GA

STUDIO ACOUSTICS, NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTROL DESIGN

Located within the busy 1200 Peachtree Street high-rise, this studio presented several unique design challenges. Floor-to-floor heights were extremely limited, and nearby sources—including a truck loading dock and an adjacent mechanical room—posed significant concerns for the retrofit.

The program includes a main media studio and the UGA live podcast studio, both feeding a shared control room, along with an edit suite, open office areas, a studio reception space, and an outdoor mezzanine for staff and clients.

To support the design, BWS conducted detailed field measurements within the unoccupied space to assess noise and vibration from existing building systems and surrounding environmental sources.

The rear portion of the studio, which houses the studios, control rooms, and a transition corridor adjacent to the exterior, was acoustically isolated using floating floors, walls, and ceiling systems to minimize noise intrusion from the surrounding building.

Working alongside TVS and CTi, the architect and AV design teams, BWS successfully tailored the spaces to meet the acoustic requirements for live recording and broadcast.
